RMVR’s Race Against Kids’ Cancer Event Raises More than $200,000

Evergreen, CO -- Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing’s Aug. 10-11 Race Against Kids’ Cancer at High Plains Raceway raised $208,000 in its ninth year to bring the event’s cumulative fundraising total for the Morgan Adams Foundation to $1.3 million.

The group of 136 registered cars was one of the event’s largest fields and included 30 Formula Ford celebrating the half-century anniversary of the marque. A large number of Formula Vees also participated.

The ever-popular “ticket-to-ride” activity and this year’s new track touring feature together raised nearly $8,000 of the total. A Saturday Fun’d Race included a last-minute twist -- a spirited game that allowed drivers to pay (donate) to have their biggest rival (or best friend) bumped to the back of the field.

Even though there was no Pro-Am race this year, former professional drivers Randy Pobst and Robb Holland -- who participated last year -- came out to support the event and get track time. Pobst was even a great sport when RMVR members paid to bump him back to a last-place start in the Fun’d Race.

Top overall fundraisers were: Alex Welch, Steve Mercer, Brent Kaufman, Mark Mauz, Erik Wolf, Graham Nessel and Larry Nessel, as well as Race Chairman Kirk Peterson and Committee Chairman Jamie Stiehr.
