Four drivers sent to rear for Dover start
Four drivers will move to the rear of the starting field for today's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover -- which is currently delayed by rain -- after their cars failed pre-race inspection.
Alex Bowman will give up the fifth starting position, Martin Truex Jr. the 13th starting spot, and Ryan Preece the 29th starting position. The Nos. 88, 19 and 47 all failed inspection twice. Both Bowman and Truex had their race engineers ejected from the Gander RV 400 while it was the car chief for Preece’s team who was ejected.
All three drivers will also lose 15 minutes of practice time next weekend at Kansas Speedway.
The No. 36 car of Matt Tifft failed pre-race inspection three times. Tifft will drop from the 32nd position to the rear, has lost his race engineer, and will have to serve a pass-through penalty when the green flag drops.
Tifft will lose 30 minutes of practice at Kansas.
