Harvick sent to rear of Bristol field after failing inspection

The Stewart-Haas Racing No. 4 Ford failed pre-race inspection three times Sunday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway. The car passed on its fourth attempt through the inspection line.

As outlined in the at-track inspection penalty protocol, driver Kevin Harvick will lose his 13th-place qualifying effort and start at the rear of the field for the Food City 500. Harvick will also have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race, and the team's engineer has also been ejected.

Next weekend in Richmond Harvick & Co. will also have to serve a 30-minute penalty in practice.

Harvick is a two-time winner at Bristol with his most recent victory being in the 2016 summer race.
