The Trans Am Race Company has secured a multi-year agreement with Intercomp, the worldwide motorsports industry leader in high-quality precision measurement equipment, naming Intercomp the Official Scales of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.
“We have been using some Intercomp equipment supplied through our sanctioning agreement with SCCA Pro Racing,” said Trans Am Race Company President John Clagett. “As we started talking to Intercomp directly regarding equipment servicing and support, it was decided by both parties to formalize and grow our partnership so we are happy to finalize this program.”
RFX Wireless scales and Intercomp Digital Air Gauges will now be used in TA, TA2, Super GT (SGT) and GT tech to streamline the pre and post-race tech process.
“Accuracy, reliability and repeat-ability are crucial to performing technical inspections in any race series,” said Trans Am Race Company Technical Director, Aaron Coalwell. “We have found that the Intercomp equipment meets these requirements in all conditions, rain or shine. We also enjoy using the RFX wireless scales to help minimize the tripping hazards in the tech area. The staff at Intercomp are a pleasure to work with and we’re excited to be working directly with them now.”
“Using Intercomp wireless scales now gives us the flexibility to host tech anywhere in the paddock,” said TA2 powered by AEM Technical Director Ricky Brooks. “Having high standards when it comes to technical inspection is critically important, particularly with the diversity of cars that we have in our paddock. Intercomp is a key component to that process and we’re excited to be working with them.”
Since 1978, Intercomp has produced the highest quality, US-made scales and measuring equipment at its Minnesota-based facility. The RFX Wireless scales that the series will use combine the convenience of reliable, cable-free corner weighing with the ruggedness of CNC-machined, aircraft-grade billet aluminum scale pads. The Intercomp Digital Air Gauges provide the drivers with the ability to increase the effectiveness of tire management programs.
“Intercomp is proud to partner with one of the most historic and iconic road racing organizations in North America,” said Intercomp Market Specialist Chris Berg. “The thundering, high-powered cars for which the series has become best know is a characteristic that makes this race series uniquely American. Intercomp looks forward to playing a role in the growth, and expansion, of this U.S.-based auto racing institution.”
Come see the Intercomp scales in action at the next series event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on March 28-31 in Braselton, Georgia, where 54 Trans Am Series competitors are slated to compete.
