NASCAR crew member handed indefinite suspension

NASCAR has suspended crew member Jeffrey W. Merritt indefinitely for violating Section 2.11.a of the rulebook.

The suspension was announced Wednesday afternoon.

Section 2.11.a of the rulebook outlines that “any NASCAR member charged with any violation of the law (misdemeanor and/or felony) shall notify NASCAR … prior to the next scheduled Event or within 72 hours of being so charged, whichever is earlier.”

Merritt was most recently listed as the front end mechanic of the No. 22 truck for AM Racing. The Gander Outdoors Truck Series returns to action this weekend at Martinsville Speedway after two weekends off.
