Shelby Mustang Super Snake Sets Record for Priciest ‘Stang Ever Sold at Auction at Mecum Kissimmee

Kissimmee, FL -- A legendary Ford Mustang sold Friday (Jan. 11) for a historic price at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction when bidding closed at $2.2 million, making it the most expensive Mustang ever sold at auction.The Shelby Mustang 1967 GT500 Super Snake, a one-of-a-kind prototype Carroll Shelby built for a tire test conducted by Goodyear, had set the earlier auction record at a 2013 Mecum sale when it sold for $1.3 million.

The car was eclipsed for the top sales spot at Kissimmee by a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrarithat sold for $3.3 million. Another highlight was a pair of 1969 L88 Corvettes that sold for $990,000. Check out the sale’s top 10.
