StarCom Racing buys ex-RCR charter

StarCom Racing is set to contest its second full season in NASCAR’s Cup Series after purchasing a charter for its No. 00 team.

StarCom announced it had acquired a charter from Richard Childress Racing “ensuring SCR’s longevity in NASCAR.” Richard Childress had revealed last week during his 50th anniversary season celebration that his organization would be selling its third charter to StarCom, which competed this past season with a charter leased from RCR.

The team also announced that Landon Cassill will be the driver of the No. 00. Cassill ran 29 races with the team last season -- split between the Nos. 00 and 99 -- with an average finish of 30th. He finished a season-best 18th in the fall Las Vegas race.

StarCom debuted with a two-race schedule in 2017.
