The playoff race at Martinsville might have ended dramatically but that didn’t stop another year-on-year dip in viewers. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series NBCSN telecast on Sunday afternoon averaged a 1.29 rating and 2.2m viewers, down from a 1.68/2.8 last year, also on NBCSN.

The Formula 1 World Championship was again on the ABC broadcast network for what turned out to be the title-deciding race, but the Mexican Grand Prix was again off the numbers it generated last year when it aired on NBC. Sunday afternoon’s telecast — again running opposite the Cup race — averaged an 0.50 rating and 776,000 viewers, compared to a 0.53/825,000 in 2017.

NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series followed the pattern of decline for Saturday’s race from Martinsville, with FS1’s telecast scoring a 0.25/363,000 viewers, down from 2017’s 0.35/489,000, also on FS1.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series scored a 0.39/511,000 for its Saturday appearance on CBS.
