Porsche reveals 935 track day car

Porsche revealed a dramatic new 935 track day car at Rennsport Reunion VI, this year’s edition of the world’s largest gathering of Porsche race cars and drivers, happening this week at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Based on the legendary 935 “Moby Dick” race car from 1978, the re-imagined 935 is built on Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS.

In addition to its exclusive bodywork and track day-simple interior, the car includes detail touches of the original 935 and features a color scheme based on the Martini-backed works 935 race cars. Aerodynamically capped wheel rims echo those of the 935/78, while LED rear lights on the rear wing end plates are adopted from the 919 Hybrid LMP1 Prototype The side mirrors hail from the current Le Mans-winning 911 RSR, with the exposed titanium tailpipes being styled from the Porsche 908 of 1968. Power is provided by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo engine, which is largely identical to the high-performance standard unit mounted in the road-legal 911 GT2 RS.

Production of the new 935 will be limited to 77 units, ensuring its collectible value. And if you have to ask, the price is given as 701,948 Euros ($814,856).
