Renger Van Der Zande went fastest Saturday morning at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in his Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R. The Dutchman (1m16.605s) had company with Mazda Team Joest’s Oliver Jarvis close behind in his Mazda RT24-P DPi (+0.081s) and Acura Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves was third in his ARX-05 (+0.145s).
IMSA’s teams were greeted by a rarity — idyllic weather for an 8:30 a.m. session — as more blue skies and warm temperatures allowed the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entrants to get down to business and prepare for qualifying.
In GT Le Mans, it was an all-German affair as the Porsche GT Team went 1-2 with BMW Team RLL within striking distance in third. Porsche’s Nick Tandy (1m22.839s) topped GTLM in his Porsche 911 RSR as teammate Earl Bamber (+0.312s) followed and BMW’s Jesse Krohn complete the top three (+0.354s) in his BMW M8 GTLM.
GT Daytona was also led by Porsche as Wright Motorsports’ Patrick Long (1m24.619s) went fastest in his Porsche 911 GT3 R. Riley Motorsports’ Jeroen Bleekemolen was second in his Mercedes-AMG GT3 (+0.099s) and Meyer Shank Racing’s Katherine Legge (+0.120s) was third in her Acura NSX GT3.
