Chaves in for Harding at Portland
Gabby Chaves has been chosen to drive Harding Racing’s No. 88 Chevy at the Portland Grand Prix. It’s expected to be the Colombian-American’s final drive for the Mike Harding-owned team this season.
“Portland’s a track that I’ve always really wanted to race on, so getting the opportunity to come here and continue driving after Gateway gives me some strong feelings about where the program is going,” Chaves told RACER.
The 2014 Indy Lights champion completed the first 11 races of the season with the rookie team before he was asked to stand down for three rounds. Starting 19th based on entrant points last weekend at Gateway, the team persevered through a variety of issues that left the No. 88 car 18th at the finish.
Portland will mark the first road course start for Chaves since Road America in late June.
