Joey Logano was fastest in final practice for Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway with a lap of 197.580mph.
Logano, a two-time winner at Michigan, edged front-row starter Kyle Busch, who set a lap of 197.520mph. Five teams were represented in the top five; following Busch was Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman (197.320mph), the No. 4 Ford of Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick (197.212mph) and Kyle Larson of Chip Ganassi Racing (197.179mph). Larson has won three of the past four Michigan races.
Rounding out the top 10 were Ryan Blaney, polesitter Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, Erik Jones — who led Saturday’s early practice session — and William Byron.
Chase Elliott spun early in the session coming out of Turn 4, but the series’ most recent race winner didn’t hit anything and ran 29 laps, ending 18th quickest.
