Lexus ambassador and retired racing legend Scott Pruett experienced an almighty fright on Friday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed when the IMSA Lexus RC F GT3 he attempted to drive up the course caught fire.
Flames at the back of the blue No. 14 3GT Racing entry raged for quite some time before fire marshals arrived on the scene, and even with water and extinguishers in action, flames continued to engulf the car.
Pruett, who was uninjured, took things in stride and quipped “just making headlines” in a text to RACER from the U.K. event.
The damaged car was an older model from 2015, and not one of the 2017 3GT Racing RC F GT3s headed to IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round next weekend at Lime Rock.
