IndyCar, Road America announce three-year extension

Road America president George Bruggentheis announced a new contract has been executed with the Verizon IndyCar Series through 2021.

"Yesterday, we reached an agreement with IndyCar to have another three years of IndyCar at Road America," he told fans over the public address system during pre-race ceremonies for the Kohler Grand Prix.

With the conclusion of the first three-year contract coming with this weekend's event at the revered Wisconsin road course, the news of a another three-year deal to bring IndyCar to one of its strongest venues counters the recent news of Phoenix being pared from the 2019 calendar.

Driven by the large response from fans who have packed Road America's campgrounds, motor home spot, and the rolling hills that contain the 4.0-mile circuit, the return of IndyCar to the Kettle Moraine valley has been among the most encouraging stories to emerge for the series.
