Harding Racing makes engineering moves

Harding Racing has moved Gerald Tyler, its recently appointed technical director, into position as race engineer for Gabby Chaves starting this weekend in Road America.

Tyler, who brings decades of CART, Champ Car, and Verizon IndyCar Series engineering experience to the No.88 Chevy program, replaces Matt Curry, who has been reassigned to a different engineering role within the team.

Through the first nine races of the year, the Harding team has been consistent with every finish falling between 14th and 19th, but the absence of competitive speed has also been apparent at many tracks.

According to Chaves, the engineering shakeup will take the No.88 program back to a new starting point with chassis setups.

“Gerald said ‘this is just like winter testing for us,’” he told RACER after placing 23rd and last in the opening practice session for the Kohler Grand Prix.
