Almirola paces final Dover Cup practice
Aric Almirola put down a lap of 158.277mph to pace final Monster Energy Series practice at Dover.
Chase Elliott was second fastest at 158.054mph. Clint Bowyer (157.916mph), Kyle Larson (157.729mph) and Kevin Harvick (157.529mph) completed the top five. Larson will start tomorrow’s race from the pole.
Erik Jones (157.226mph), Jimmie Johnson (156.952mph), William Byron (156.733mph), Paul Menard (156.672mph), and Kyle Busch (156.624mph) completed the top 10.
Bowyer ran the most laps in the session at 65.
There were no incidents in the session and two drivers, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick, served 15-minute penalties after their cars failed qualifying inspection twice.
