Davidson joins DragonSpeed for post-Le Mans WEC run

By

2014 FIA WEC Drivers’ Champion and newly appointed Toyota Gazoo Racing reserve driver Anthony Davidson will return to the WEC after the Le Mans 24 Hours this year with American team DragonSpeed.

Davidson has a wealth of experience racing LMP machinery, dating back to his run as a Peugeot factory driver prior to the FIA WEC’s existence and his multiple seasons racing with Toyota, winning a title and 10 races overall. This deal will see him race in LMP2 for the first time.

The U.S.-flagged team, headed by Elton Julian, will race the team’s LMP2 ORECA 07 Gibson in the championship with ex-F1 driver Pastor Maldonado and Roberto Gonzalez in the seat which will be filled by Nathanael Berthon at Spa and Le Mans. Davidson will then complete the ‘Super Season’ with the team.

Before he makes his race debut with DragonSpeed at Silverstone in August, Davidson is due to run at the FIA WEC preseason Prologue with Toyota, driving in the seat which would be filled by Toyota’s newest driver Fernando Alonso – had he not been forced to sit it out due to a clash with the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix.
