Axalta will continue its partnership with Hendrick Motorsports through 2022, the organization announced Friday.
The four-year contract extension will include Axalta as the primary sponsor in select races for drivers Alex Bowman and William Byron. On Bowman’s No.88 Chevy, Axalta will sponsor 15 races this season and 12 races next year. For the No.24, the Axalta colors will appear in 10 races this season and 13 races next year.
HMS says the schedule for the following seasons will be announced in the future.
“Motorsports is in Axalta’s DNA,” said Axalta chairman and CEO Charlie Shaver. “For more than 25 years, our partnership with Hendrick Motorsports has enabled us to showcase our industry-leading performance coatings that have helped make cars lighter, more efficient, and look terrific. We’re excited to continue our successful partnership with Hendrick Motorsports through 2022.”
Axalta first partnered with HMS in 1992 when Jeff Gordon made his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut. Following Gordon’s retirement at the end of 2015, Axalta shifted its support to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for two seasons.
In May 2017, Axalta opened a 36,000-square-foot Customer Experience Center on the Concord, North Carolina, campus of Hendrick Motorsports.
“We are so proud of our partnership with Axalta,” said team owner Rick Hendrick. “Their long-term commitment to our organization and our sport as a whole has been unbelievable. They are constantly innovating and investing to keep the program fresh, enhance the experience for their customers and ultimately drive value for their business.
“Projects like the Customer Experience Center on our campus are unprecedented and reinforce the strength of our relationship. We’ve worked together for more than a quarter of a century, and I believe it’s just the beginning.”
