Landon Cassill is returning to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this weekend, driving for StarCom Racing.
the team mutually parted with Jeffrey Earnhardt
after Sunday's race at Auto Club Speedway. Earnhardt had been tabbed as the team's driver in late January, but it was announced shortly after his 36th-place finish in the Auto Club 400 that it was their final race together. The 28-year-old Cassill had been sidelined since losing his ride after two seasons at Front Row Motorsports. Cassill, however, is a veteran of the Cup Series with 259 career starts and one top-10 finish. In 15 Martinsville starts, Cassill has twice finished a career-best 19th (in 2012 and 2014 fall races).
