Bell Racing USA has issued a public statement in response to calls for a boycott of Bell products, as part of a wider boycott of companies owned by ammunition producer Vista Outdoor.
Vista Outdoor – parent company of well-known bicycle product brands like Bell, CamelBak, Giro, CoPilot, and Blackburn – also owns brands that sell assault weapons and ammunition. The company is also a supporter of the National Rifle Association (NRA), leading to calls for a boycott of its products in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Florida.
Kyle Kietzmann, president and COO of Bell Racing USA, issued the following statement regarding the call for a boycott of all Bell products:
“Bell Racing USA and Bell Racing Helmets are entirely separate entities from the power sports and bicycle divisions of the Bell brand. We operate independently from Vista Outdoor and Vista Outdoor has no ownership stake in Bell Racing.
“Not only do we operate separately from Vista Outdoor, but we act with different values, different missions, and different visions. It is the focus of Bell Racing USA and Bell Racing Helmets to protect racers and ensure that they can pursue their passions safely. We sell auto racing helmets and accessories to those who participate in auto racing, to maximize protection and enhance driver performance. Our efforts are, and always will be, directed at the safety of racers by providing superior head protection.”
