Brittany Force hospitalized after crash

Reigning Top Fuel champion Brittany Force has been taken to a hospital after her dragster crashed during the 58th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at Pomona's Auto Club Raceway.

Her Monster Energy dragster smoked the tires, shot sideways over the center line in front of Terry Haddock and pancaked the left wall before careening across the track again and making another impact along the right wall.

The NHRA reports Force was conscious, alert and speaking with medical staff and went to the hospital for evaluation.

Force had qualified second heading into final eliminations.

Force's father John had an explosion of his own earlier in the weekend during Friday qualifying. He did not suffer any injuries.
