Van der Zande completes DragonSpeed LMP1 line-up

By

Veteran sports car racer Renger van der Zande has joined DragonSpeed Racing for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship season. He will co-drive with Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman in the team’s Gibson-powered BR1 LMP1 Prototype. The Dutchman’s WEC program will run alongside his with his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship duties for Wayne Taylor Racing.

Van der Zande previously drove for DragonSpeed in the ALMS Prototype Challenge class in 2013, and went on to star in that class with Starworks before moving up to IMSA’s Prototype category. He took pole position at last month’s Rolex 24 At Daytona with Taylor’s Cadillac DPi and was a top contender in the race before a series of tire failures prompted the team to withdraw from the event.
