TeamTGM has joined the growing list of IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge teams to pin its hopes for success on the Mercedes-AM GT4 model.
Coming off a strong year where the Ted Giovanis-owned program shined in the GS category using Porsche’s Cayman GT4 platform, the jump to Mercedes-AMG and two of its twin-turbo V8-powered coupes is where the team believes it will shift from contender to champion.
“This is a really exciting time for the team,” said Giovanis, who will return to the cockpit in one of the TGM entries. “We are focused on the big championship picture and after doing a lot of homework and research to look at all the options, we are very pleased to be moving ahead with the AMG folks. The car itself should be dynamite to drive and we think there will be an excellent support system in place, so things are coming together well after a lot of hard work.”
The full TGM driver roster will be unveiled, along with the new cars, next month at Daytona.
