Parrott splits with LFR

Todd Parrott has been relieved of his duties as crew chief of the No. 95 Leavine Family Racing Chevrolet.

Parrott joined the organization in October of 2016 working with Ty Dillon and Michael McDowell, who split time in the car. This year, Parrott and McDowell have competed in all 31 races together with one top-10 finish and 12 top-20 finishes.

Following a 30th-place finish in Sunday's Alabama 500 at Talladega Superspeedway where McDowell was caught in a wreck, the No. 95 team sits 27th in points.

The 53-year-old Parrott is a veteran of the NASCAR garage and a former championship-winning crew chief. Parrott and Dale Jarrett took home the title in 1999.

In 664 starts as a crew chief in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Parrott has 31 career wins and 235 top-10 finishes. He's worked with drivers such as Jarrett, Ernie Irvan, Elliott Sadler, Bobby Labonte and Matt Kenseth among others.

Kasey Kahne will drive the No. 95 beginning in 2018.
