Furniture Row reveals 2018 sponsors for Truex

Furniture Row Racing will have a fully funded No. 78 Toyota next season for Martin Truex Jr.
The organization announced a major sponsorship package Sunday morning at Talladega Superspeedway with Bass Pro Shops and 5-hour ENERGY co-sponsoring the car for 30 races. Auto-Owners Insurance will be a primary sponsor for six races.

Both Bass Pro Shops and Auto-Owners are continuing their partnerships with Truex while he picks up support from 5-hour ENERGY. The company will move over from the No. 77 team, which is shutting down next year.

  • 'No worries' for Truex over FRR single-car future

"This type of co-primary sponsorship has been made a reality because of the incredible cooperation between Johnny Morris and his Bass Pro team, along with Rise' Meguiar and her 5-hour ENERGY team," said team owner Barney Visser. "It took a number of conversations and a spirit of partnership to make this happen and we thank Bass Pro Shops and 5-hour ENERGY for being open-minded to this concept.

"Bass Pro and 5-hour ENERGY are winning companies and we will do everything we can on the racetrack to provide them not only with a winning team but represent them in the highest standard. We also want to give a special thank you to Auto-Owners Insurances for its cooperation in moving markets around to enable this overall partnership with Bass Pro Shops and 5-hour ENERGY to work."

A breakdown of how the co-primary sponsorship will work:

  • In 16 races Bass Pro Shops will be the dominant brand on the hood with 5-hour the dominant brand on the side of the car.
  • In 14 races 5-hour will be the dominant brand on the hood with Bass Pro Shops the dominant brand on the side of the car.

The news is both a relief and accomplishment for Furniture Row. Since the organization's debut in the Cup Series in 2005, Visser has footed a large part of the bill for the No. 78 by putting his other business, Furniture Row, on the car. Next season will be the first time the car has been fully funded by all outside partners.

As part of this co-primary sponsorship deal, Bass Pro Shops and 5-hour ENERGY have also formed a business-to-business relationship. That will include cross-marketing and advertising. 5-hour ENERGY will be sold in all Bass Pro Shops and Cabela stores. Those stores will also feature 15- and 30-second commercials on all in-store screens.

"I'm looking forward to continuing my association with Bass Pro Shops and my good friend Johnny Morris and building a bigger and stronger relationship with 5-hour ENERGY," said Truex. "The sponsorship package is a neat concept and it will be our responsibility to make sure we deliver both on and off the track for these highly-visible and successful companies."
Furniture Row said sponsorship for the two remaining races of the 38 race schedule will be announced at a later date.
