WEEKEND SCOOP:
Trenton Estep Quote: "What a great weekend and a great way to wrap up my rookie season in Porsche GT3 Cup! We had great pace and my car was fast every session. Road Atlanta is a great track that's super fast and really tricky to get right, but I really enjoy the challenges of driving here." "I qualified fourth for Race 1 and the first lap of the race was uneventful but as we came down the hill into Turn 12 to start the second lap, [Will] Hardeman and I were side-by-side at 120 mph! I stayed on my racing line through the turn and he ran off into the grass under the start/finish line and I moved into third place. There were quite a few yellow flag caution periods for on-track incidents but I stayed out of trouble and was happy to take another podium finish." "In Race 2, I started second and quickly passed Jake Eidson on the first lap and was able to maintain a nice gap between us. I was fast but I had to drive every lap as perfectly as I could because I knew that if I made a single mistake, Eidson would seize the opportunity and get the jump. Just past the halfway point in the race, I finally figured out Sector 1 [Turns 1 to 5] and was able to lower my lap times a bit more and open up a little more gap on Eidson. It was a really hard race but it was also a lot of fun" "Winning the second race of the weekend and the final race of the year was a great way to end my rookie season. I'm so thankful for having the opportunity to race in IMSA with Porsche and all the help and support from my friends at Hertz. My JDX Racing team has been amazing all year and we've had a wonderful time together on and off the track. I'm looking forward to next year and continuing to learn the craft of racing sports cars." Mark Kvamme Quote: "What can I say? It was another great weekend of racing for me. This has been an amazing season and I've learned so much. It's hard to believe that I'm a 55-year old rookie, but I think I ran really well and had a lot of great races. The challenge of learning to drive the Porsche GT3 Cup Car competitively keeps me young and excited. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend my weekends! Finishing second in the Platinum Masters Championship has been icing on the cake!" "The JDX Racing team has been amazing. They've given me great cars all year. We've never missed a session and they're always trying to make the car better for me. The atmosphere under the race tent is very family-like, we're always joking and sharing a laugh with each other and enjoying some great meals together but we are very serious about our racing." Jeremy Dale, JDX Managing Partner Quote: "It's hard to believe we have come to the end of the 2017 season - it's all passed us by in a flash - but it's been a great season. Both Trenton and Mark have done a tremendous job, with race wins and podiums throughout, both finishing in the top three in their championships. It has been wonderful watching Trenton develop throughout the year and having him win the final race of the 2017 season sets the stage very nicely for 2018. He sat in a Porsche GT3 Cup car for the first time in January and his progress during the season was remarkable. After many years of karting, this is only his second year in a race car and first in a Porsche, but it's clear he has a bright future ahead of him. We'll come back in 2018 and fight for the championship." "I want to thank everyone on our team for their continued hard work and commitment to putting fast and safe race cars on the track every weekend - they're such an incredible group and I'm privileged to work with each one of them. I would also like to thank Hertz for their continued support of JDX Racing. We could not do what we do without them and we are honored to call them our partners. |
