Montoya, Penske top second Petit practice
Well, that didn't take long. Team Penske came within a tenth of a second leading the opening Petit Le Mans practice, and with a session to build from, Juan Pablo Montoya (1m12.445s) cleared the field by a solid margin in this WEC-spec ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2.
Rebellion Racing's Mathias Beche was second in another ORECA 07 (+0.252s) and Montoya's 2018 teammate, Dane Cameron, was third (+0.314s) in the top DPi with Action Express Racing's Cadillac DPi-V.R.

In GT Daytona, Michael Shank Racing's Katherine Legge fought through traffic to complete a qualifying simulation that left her Acura NSX GT3 (1m20.308s) comfortably fastest. CORE autosport's Colin Braun (+0.584s) had no answer in his Porsche 911 GT3 R, nor did Land Motorsport's Connor De Phillippi in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 (+0.646s).
In the PC class, Pato O'Ward was a full 1.2 seconds faster than Garrett Grist in the second of three entries for the category's farewell race.
