WEC gives update on 2019 Sebring plans

The plan announced two weeks ago was to host a 12-hour WEC race at the Floridian circuit, starting two hours after the conclusion of IMSA's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring – which raised questions from numerous members of the WEC paddock about the potential condition of the track, the race start time (midnight) and the ability to wrap up the IMSA race quickly enough to get the WEC race underway on schedule.

Neveu, though, made it clear again today that despite the logistical challenges, the WEC is confident that it can be done. However, Neveu and the organization are considering that their race may be of a different length to the 12 hours previously announced.

"We are looking at the name of the race and that might inform the eventual length of race that we hold at Sebring," said Neveu at Circuit of The Americas. "It will definitely be longer than a six-hour race, perhaps 10, or eight or a race measured by distance."

In addition to that, a "spectacular entertainment program" will also be organized for the fans for the gap between the two races.

Sebring Raceway's president and general manager Wayne Estes is in attendance at COTA this weekend to discuss the event further with the WEC organization and members of the paddock.
