Cindric ready for Red Bull GRC debut in Seattle
There's not much time to rest if you're Austin Cindric.
A week after pushing GMS Racing Chevrolet of Kaz Grala out of the way to earn his first Camping World Truck Series win and qualify for the playoffs, the 19-year-old will make his Supercar debut for Bryan Herta Rallysport in Red Bull Global Rallycross Rounds 10 and 11, piloting the No. 19 Fitzgerald Glider Kit/ Proline Tailgate M-Sport Supercar in Everett, Washington.
"Diving into the deep end this weekend in Seattle," said Cindric, who finished second in the 2015 Red Bull GRC Lites division. "We were able to get some time practicing launches and checking radios. The launch is one of the most important aspects of Red Bull Global Rallycross racing. When it comes to making a lap, I'm going in blind this weekend. I'm hoping to absorb as much information as I can from the team, my competitors and Cabot.
"I have no expectations for the weekend, but I would love to see us competing for the podium in the second leg of the doubleheader."
So far in 2017, Cindric has compiled one win, three top five finishes and four pole position starts in five different racing series. In his Xfinity Series debut two weeks ago at Road America, he started with a strong first two stages and was in position for a good finish until suffering a flat tire just before entering the pits with eight laps to go. He wound up 16th. He's also made appearances in ARCA, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for three races with 3GT Racing.
"Austin has been on a tremendous run lately, including his Craftsman Truck Series win last weekend," team owner Bryan Herta said. "We are looking forward to riding that momentum into Seattle. The team is excited to welcome Austin into the Supercar class and giving him the tools he needs to have a strong week."
