The company released a statement citing "circumstances beyond our control." The news was first reported by ESPN.

A JGR spokesman confirmed to RACER that rookie Daniel Suarez did not violate a morals clause, but would not comment further on what caused the contract to be terminated one race short of a four-race deal.

Suarez drove a Subway sponsored car at Auto Club Speedway, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte and the July race at Daytona. He is 17th in points entering the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

Subway had been with the Gibbs organization for the past three seasons. Following the unexpected retirement of long-time Subway driver and representative Carl Edwards, the company continued its support of JGR as Suarez, the 2016 Xfinity Series champion, moved into the car.
