That left the two Toyotas in third and fourth on the screens once again, the No. 7 leading the No. 8, 1.6 and 2.3 seconds off the leading Porsche, respectively.

In LMP2, Jackie Chan DC Racing led the way, with Ho Pin Tung lapping the circuit in 1m33.390s in the team's No. 38 ORECA. His time was marginally quicker than Alex Lynn in the G-Drive ORECA, who set a 1m33.666s.

Third was the second Jackie Chan DC machine, which during the session ground to a halt at Turn 12 with David Cheng at the wheel. In the end, Alex Brundle managed to put the car third with a 1m33.869s.

GTE Pro was topped by Aston Martin Racing, its two Vantages finishing first and second in the class. Danish driver Marco Sorensen reeled off a 1m39.931s in the No. 95 to go top, with Brazilian Daniel Serra second – in what is his first weekend racing at the circuit – after a 1m40.202s.

The best of the rest was the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari.

In GTE Am, Matteo Cairoli again ran fastest, the Italian touring the track in 1m41.536s in the Dempsey Proton Porsche.

Free practice 3 at Mexico City is set to begin at 1:45 p.m. local time.
