Dixon fastest in second Watkins Glen practice

2016 Watkins Glen polesitter and race winner Scott Dixon came within .1s of beating the Watkins Glen track record in Friday afternoon practice as Honda continued to show an advantage.

Dixon's 1m22.618s lap led Will Power (+0.0942s), followed by practice 1 leader Graham Rahal (+0.352s), Simon Pagenaud (+0.472s) and Alexander Rossi (+0.493s).

Charlie Kimball, who only ran two laps in the morning session with an electrical issue, was seventh fastest.

Max Chilton brought out the red flag when he locked it up exiting Turn 5 and hit the guardrail, damaging the right side. Helio Castroneves also made right-side contact with the guardrail exiting the Boot.

Pat Jordon, fueler for Carlos Munoz, was run over by his driver during pit stop practice and suffered injuries to his toes.

UP NEXT: Final practice Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by qualifying at 3 p.m.
