JR Motorsports team member killed in car crash
JR Motorsports is mourning the loss of mechanic Adam Wright, who was killed in a single-car crash near Statesville, North Carolina on August 20. He was 33.
Wright's car ran off the road just before 11 p.m. Sunday night and went airborne, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol told the Statesville Record & Landmark. He was not wearing a seatbelt. North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
Wright's father, Pete, was a longtime NASCAR crewman and a member of Terry Labonte's 1984 Winston Cup championship-winning team – the year Adam was born. At the beginning of this season, Wright joined Michael Annett's No. 5 team as the front-end mechanic.
Many have taken to social media to remember Wright, including JR Motorsports, which posted a tribute video Thursday.
