From 2003 to 2011, Sieg made 68 starts in the Camping World Truck Series. He was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR in August 2011 for violating its substance abuse policy and for actions detrimental to stock car racing per the CWTS rulebook.
He also made two Xfinity Series starts in 2004.
In a statement, NASCAR said, "Shane Sieg was a passionate racer who shared a deep love of the sport. NASCAR extends its deepest condolences to the Sieg family for a racer lost too soon."
