The Joe Gibbs Racing driver will go for his third Watkins Glen win Sunday afternoon.

"Yesterday there was a few times in practice where I just hit it, and hit right and felt pretty good about it," said Busch, who broke his year-long winless drought last weekend. "So, I knew where those marks were and trying to go back and get those here today. Obviously, it felt really good, was pretty good. These guys continue to do a great job.

"This M&M's Caramel Camry's got really good speed this weekend, I feel like we're one of the cars to beat. There's a couple of cars there with us, but we'll see how it goes today if we can't keep ourselves up front and out of trouble."

Kyle Larson will start second after a lap of 126.249mph. Points leader Martin Truex Jr. (125.763mph), Chase Elliott (125.584mph) and rookie Daniel Suarez (125.453mph) rounded out the top five.

Erik Jones, AJ Allmendinger (the 2014 Watkins Glen winner), Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray and Jimmie Johnson made up the top 10.

Defending race winner Denny Hamlin advanced to the final round of qualifying but did not attempt a lap. After Hamlin complained about the brakes, No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing crew went to work on trying to diagnose the problem.

"I went to pull off of pit road and had no brakes at all," Hamlin said. "If I had to wait more than three seconds [the pedal] would go to the floor, which is going to be an issue if you try to make a qualifying run plus try to run a full race around here. We'll probably change all the brake systems out and have to start at the back and go from there."

Other notables include Joey Logano qualifying 13th, Matt Kenseth 15th, Kurt Busch 18th, Kevin Harvick 20th and Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualifying 28th for his final start at Watkins Glen. Making his final NASCAR start, road course racer Boris Said will start from the 35th position.

The green flag falls at Watkins Glen shortly after 3 p.m. ET.
