Marquez decides against new Honda chassis for Czech GP
Despite testing a new chassis in a private test in Brno, Marc Marquez will continue to use the Honda chassis he's had all season.
With Honda engineers present, both Marquez and Dani Pedrosa tested the new frame.
"We tried several things, including a chassis, especially with a view to next year," Marquez said. "We are still missing something on the exit of the corner. But we will not use it because I feel more comfortable with the one I have used so far.
"Two weeks ago, here, we tested and like always in a test, some things were working well, some things I preferred what we already have up to now. But I was happy because I saw that all of Japanese staff were pushing a lot to try and improve and we improved in some areas.
Marquez, who leads the championship by 129 points over Yamaha's Maverick Vinales, praised Honda for trying to "push at the maximum."
"Always you try to learn a few things, you try to improve. Honda is trying to push at the maximum to give the best package to all Honda riders. I am quite happy for the Brno test and now I look forward to this weekend, for the Monday test and then the next races, when it will be important to always be constant and fast."
The riders have a combined six wins and five pole positions at Brno.
"I enjoyed having time to rest and go to the sea with some friends, but I also used this long summer break to train for the second part of the Championship," Marquez said. "Such a close season is exciting but also very demanding, meaning that you have to always keep your concentration high and try to constantly be at the best level possible, adapting to every situation. So it was good to go testing at Brno during the summer break because it allowed us to work on the bike and stay focused on the job.
"Brno is a nice track but one of the most demanding, with many changes of direction and uphill and downhill sections. We'll try to make the best of the work we've done during the test and to prepare to fight for the podium on Sunday."
