'Not the best day' at one of Dixon's best tracks
It's odd to hear that Scott Dixon's Chip Ganassi Racing team has been "chasing the same issue all weekend," especially having tested for half a day at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course last year. Despite qualifying sixth for Sunday's race, the five-time Mid-Ohio winner said it was "not the best day for us."
"We haven't really changed [the car]," said Dixon, whose five Mid-Ohio wins are the most of any IndyCar driver, retired or active. "Kind of been back and forth from each end. We tried a pretty big change in the Fast Six there. We really had nothing to lose. That was really bad."

This isn't to say Dixon's had an off year when it comes to qualifying on road courses – he qualified fourth at Barber and the Indy road course and fifth at Road America. Having switched from Chevy to Honda in the offseason, Dixon thinks that the minimal changes and a similar configuration to past years might be too conservative.
"For us, we've had a big change in the off-season with manufacturers," he said. "I think some of those things, when you have a track that the team is good at, and I prefer as well, you maybe get stuck in your ways a little bit, too.
"We came back with a very similar setup to what we had last year, whereas a lot of the other tracks we've had to kind of reconfigure a lot because of the different aero kits.
"I think we need to maybe apply a little bit more of that, as well. ... I think we have a direction that we kind of need to go with. I felt like we tried everything we probably should have done. Hopefully there's not too many more of those left. Hopefully start heading in the right direction.
"We'll change a large or something fundamental to how the car works through the corner. Entry right now, there's a big separation."
