Truex, Larson battle in New Hampshire practice

The battle between Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Larson continued in the second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Larson paced the Saturday morning 55-minute session early. Truex was fastest when the practice ended. The No. 78 ran a lap of 131.338 mph with Larson’s fastest lap at 131.333 mph.

After Larson’s pole winning time was disallowed Friday night, Truex was awarded the top spot. Larson will start from the rear as Truex begins his quest for a second consecutive win and fourth this season from the front.

Jimmie Johnson was third fastest at 131.184 mph. Chase Elliott was fourth at 131.162 mph, and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five at 131.071 mph.

There were no incidents during the session.

Rookie Erik Jones was sixth fastest at 131.008 mph; Kyle Busch was seventh fastest at 130.923 mph; Matt Kenseth was eighth fastest at 130.824 mph; Denny Hamlin was ninth fastest at 130.667 mph; and Clint Bowyer was 10th fastest at 130.537 mph.
