Loose Sonoma nuts cost Kyle Busch another crew chief

Kyle Busch will have to work with his second interim crew chief of the year at Daytona International Speedway.

The No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team was penalized by NASCAR Wednesday after Busch's car was found with two loose lug nuts after the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. Crew chief Ben Beshore has been fined $20,000 and suspended for one Monster Energy Series race.

However, Beshore was the interim crew chief Busch was working with in place of Adam Stevens. Stevens, along with the rear tire changer and tire carrier on the No. 18, have been serving four race suspensions because of a wheel coming off in Dover. The Coke Zero 400 at Daytona is the final race of those suspensions.

A former winner at Daytona, Busch enters the weekend still looking for his first win of the season.

NASCAR also issued a penalty to an Xfinity Series team following the race at Iowa Speedway. Daniel Hemric's crew chief Danny Stockman was fined $5,000 also for unsecured lug nuts.
