TV Ratings: NASCAR's Fox finale, IndyCar Road America

The first weekend of summer also marked the end of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season on Fox, as the series moves to NBC for its remaining races.

SportsBusiness Journal reports Sunday's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma drew a 1.94 overnight for the Fox finale, down 14 percent from a 2.2 last year and down 21 percent from FS1's 2.4 overnight in 2015. NBC launches its broadcast season this weekend at Daytona.

Saturday night's Xfinity Series race at Iowa earned at 0.58 rating and 983,000 viewers on FS1. The series was off this weekend last year; with the Iowa race on Sunday, June 19, it earned a 0.87 rating and just under 1.4 million viewers.

The Verizon IndyCar Series' Kohler Grand Prix drew a 0.37 rating and 568,000 viewers, up from 2016's 0.33/470,000 viewers. Good weather led to a strong walk-up crowd but wound up shy of 2016 attendance, so track president and general manager George Bruggenthies is

bringing back the popular four-day $100 ticket

in 2018.   

The Formula 1 European Grand Prix on NBCSN drew a 0.38 rating/598,000 viewers for a race held a week later than last year's, event, which scored a 0.48 overnight rating, averaging 569,000 viewers.

The same-day delayed NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing series Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals final eliminations drew a 0.65 rating/1.08m viewers on FS1, up from last year's 0.41/651,000 in the live morning broadcast window.
