Dumas repeats at Pikes Peak
Romain Dumas (above) has won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the second straight year, and third time in his career. The Frenchman, a two-time overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, fell short in his quest for a new all-time record for the 12.42-mile run to the top of the 14,115ft summit of Pikes Peak, Colo., but easily took overall honors once again in his Norma MXX RD Limited prototype with a time of 9m05.672s. Watch his run below:
Dumas was attempting to best all-time record of 8m13.878s set by Sebastien Loeb and his Peugeot in 2013.
"Third one in four years but frustrating due to engine cutoffs early on my run," Dumas said. "We expected much better. The crew did great. Thanks to my guys and all of you for the support. It's a strange feeling but we should not forget the win."

"Just an incredible month of June was had by RealTime Racing in Colorado. Today's result on the hill is the culmination of a ton of hard work by my team and the Honda Performance Development group," said Cunningham. "Congratulations to my Acura teammates Nick Robinson, securing the Exhibition class title, and James Robinson, bringing home a podium in his Time Attack 1 NSX. A fantastic day for Acura at Pikes Peak!"
Other class winners included Pikes Peak veteran Clint Vahsholtz, setting a 9m35.747s in Open Wheel and Rhys Millen (9m42.747s) in Time Attack 1.
Millen won the class by more than two seconds in a modified version of his record-setting 2012 Genesis Coupe riding on special-compound Hankook Ventus F200 tires designed exclusively for the event.
"This car remains undefeated on Pikes Peak in the Time Attack division," Millen noted. "It's a testament to the team's ability to chase the setup of the mountain year after year and fend off top-level drivers."
In adddition, Faraday Future tested the limits of its FF 91 electric vehicle in its first ascent at Pikes Peak. Driven by FF principal Engineer Robin Shute, the car finished with a time of 11m25:083s faster than the standing production- intent EV record by more than 20 seconds.
Weather – including fog and hail – hit the summit around 2 p.m., forcing race officials to cut the 12.42-mile race in half for the final five racers.
