Laptop with race notes stolen from Knaus' car

Chad Knaus' laptop, which contained race notes for Jimmie Johnson's racecar, was stolen from his rental car upon arriving in San Francisco earlier this week, the Associated Press reports.

The laptop contained notes for the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team ahead of this weekend's race at Sonoma Raceway. Hendrick Motorsports said the information is encrypted, and other team members had similar notes.

Knaus and his wife Brooke, a former Miss Sprint Cup, told the AP they were at dinner on Wednesday and upon returning to their rental car found the passenger side window had been smashed and their briefcases stolen. In addition to Knaus' laptop, he said there was cash in their briefcases and Brooke's art supplies were also taken, although their luggage was still there.

There are two practice sessions for the Toyota Save / Mart 350 scheduled for Friday. Johnson is the 2010 winner at the road course.
