Sarrazin joins TECHEETAH for remaining 2017 races
Stéphane Sarrazin will join TECHEETAH Formula E Team for the remainder of the 2016-17 championship, taking the seat vacated when Esteban Gutierrez was named as Sebastien Bourdais' replacement in the Verizon IndyCar Series.
The former F1 driver has recorded 94 points in 27 starts over three Formula E seasons. After Berlin Sarrazin heads to Le Mans, where Toyota Gazoo Racing has moved him to the No. 7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid in place of José María Lopez, who moves to the third car for the 24-hour race.
"TECHEETAH has put together a great car in their debut season, and has shown that it can regularly run at the front and secure podiums," Sarrazin said. "I am excited to have an opportunity to race for them, and I am confident that we will have a very successful partnership over the final six rounds of the Championship."
"Stephane has repeatedly shown his tremendous ability in Formula E and was an obvious choice for us," said TECHEETAH team principal Mark Preston. "I am very confident that he will be able to seamlessly integrate into our team and that he will help us continue to our highly successful debut season."
TECHEETAH is currently sixth in the FIA Formula E team standings after six rounds in its debut season.
