Fan facing charges after fence climb during Dover Cup race

A 43-year-old Delaware man is facing several charges after climbing the catchfence during Sunday's AAA 400 Drive for Autistm at Dover International Speedway.

On its department website, the Dover Police Department said John Infanti climbed the Turn 4 fence around 5 p.m. as the race was under green. According to a report provided by Dover PD, a private security firm contracted by the speedway was able to get him down from the fence, but as he was taken into custody Infanti reportedly refused to comply with officers and kicked one in the knee.

Infanti is expected to be charged with felony resisting arrest with force, trespassing, disorderly conduct and offensive touching of a police officer.

The speedway told USA Today that Infanti was intoxicated.

In September 2014, a man fan climbed the catchfence in Turn 4 at Richmond and tried to engage the crowd.
