“Thursday was the first time I had ever been to or driven at Barber Motorsports Park. The track was super challenging and the grounds were just amazing! The JDX Racing team and I struggled a bit with car setup for the first practice sessions and in qualifying for race one, we couldn’t manage better than sixth position, which was frustrating. We made some changes before race one and the car was better, but still not great. I was able to move from sixth to fifth pretty quickly and ran most of the race in fifth position before a late race yellow came out that stacked the field. I was able to get a jump on the restart and gain two positions right away. A second yellow came out soon after and the race finished under yellow and just like that, I was on the podium.”
“Race two started in the rain and I was pretty nervous honestly. I had never driven a Porsche GT3 Cup car in the rain but I knew the Yokohama rain tires were really good. I never put together a fast lap in race one so I started in eighth spot and was in the thick of the pack - but by the end of lap 3, I was in second position! I was having so much fun in the car learning how the Yokohama rain tires work and learning how the Porsche Cup Car responds to inputs in the wet. I was smiling the whole time! It was a great weekend and I’m really looking forward to heading to Austin in a couple weeks, which is my home race.”

“I’m very proud of our JDX Racing team. This was our first visit to Barber Motorsports Park as a team and the first time for the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge USA Series. We came out of the weekend with multiple podium finishes and great results for both our drivers, Trenton Estep and Mark Kvamme.”
“Trenton drove great races both days, especially on Sunday in the rain. That was his first time driving a Porsche in the rain. With no traction control, no ABS braking and almost 500 horsepower, these cars are challenging to drive in the dry and especially challenging in the wet. What an amazing job he did! Mark Kvamee also drove masterfully, finishing on the podium in Saturday’s race and taking his first Platinum Master’s Class victory in a very difficult wet race on Sunday.”
“It was a great weekend for our drivers and crew. We’re leaving Barber energized and excited for the next race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX in two weeks time."
