Frijns sidelined by knee ligament injury

Robin Frijns will miss this weekend's Blancpain GT Series race at Monza after sustaining a knee injury in training.

Unfortunately I will have to sit out this weekends @blancpaingtseries in Monza. While training my right knee collapsed. Cut my ligament in half. Recovery starts today! Will be back in the car in 2 weeks time in Brands Hatch. Feel sorry for @stuart.leonard and @jakedennis19A post shared by Robin Frijns (@r_frijns) on Apr 20, 2017 at 7:54am PDT

"While training my right knee collapsed. Cut my ligament in half," he said on Instagram. "Recovery starts today! Will be back in the car in 2 weeks time in Brands Hatch [May 6-7]."

Frijns and WRT GT Racing teammates Nico Muller and Marcel Fassler took third in the most recent VLN Endurance Championship race at the Nürburgring on April 8. He's next scheduled to race for MS Amlin Andretti in Formula E at Round 5 in Monaco on May 13. He sits 16th in the Formula E standings, most recently picking up an 11th-place finish in Mexico City. His season-best finish was sixth in the season-opening Hong Kong round.
