
Logano rolls on in final Phoenix Cup practice
Joey Logano continues to look strong in preparations for his attempt at a second consecutive Phoenix International Raceway win.
After grabbing the pole for the Camping World 500 Friday evening, Logano was second fastest in the first practice Saturday and then paced the field in final practice. His lap of 134.736 mph was quickest over Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Matt Kenseth (134.519 mph) and Kyle Busch (134.399 mph). Brad Keselowski (134.384 mph) and Jimmie Johnson (134.368 mph) rounded out the top five.
The remainder of the top 10 were Erik Jones (134.208 mph), Clint Bowyer (134.058 mph), Kyle Larson (134.033 mph), Martin Truex Jr. (133.963 mph), and Jamie McMurray 9133.824 mph).
Eight-time Phoenix winner Kevin Harvick continues to search for speed and comfort with his Ford. Harvick, who qualified 23rd, was 16th fastest in the session.
There was one incident during final practice when rookie Daniel Suarez blew a tire, causing him to spin and damage the splitter on his No. 19 Toyota Camry. After repairs, Suarez was able to complete the remainder of the session.
Chase Elliott was fastest in Saturday's first practice session over Logano, Larson, Truex, and Brad Keselowski.
