Facebook CEO rides with Earnhardt

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, now understands the fascination with NASCAR.

Zuckerberg made the comment as he coasted a NASCAR Experience racecar back to pit road at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Charlotte, North Carolina, was Zuckerberg's most recent destination on for his 2017 personal challenge.

By the end of this year, Zuckerberg said he hopes to have visited 30 states while meeting significant individuals and learning about his or her way of living and the community.

Upon arriving at the speedway, Zuckerberg suited up for his ride with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

"So, we're going to start slow and ease our way into it here?" Zuckerberg asked as Earnhardt rolled off pit road.

It didn't take long for Earnhardt to get up to speed, however, leaving Zuckerberg unable to help exclaiming, "Holy (expletive)."

By the end of the ride Zuckerberg was in awe.

"If this is all we get to do in Charlotte, that will be enough," Zuckerberg said. "What an amazing experience."

Then it was time to take the wheel himself, as Zuckerberg drove the NASCAR Experience car with Earnhardt coaching him on a radio by telling him where to run on the track. After starting off slowly, Zuckerberg got his nerve up to push the car a little harder and eventually hit the rev limiter.

"This is fun; I like driving," Zuckerberg said. "I understand why so many people love this."

Before getting a ride from two-time Daytona 500 winner Earnhardt, Zuckerberg first took a tour of Hendrick Motorsports. Guided around by general Hendrick Motorsports general manager Doug Duchardt, Zuckerberg was given an up close and personal look at everything that goes into running a NASCAR operation.

"Hopefully you got a good idea of what we got going on here," Earnhardt said. "You got a great tour of the shop over at Hendrick Motorsports and couple laps on the racetrack."

Team Penske took a lighthearted jab with Team Hendrick's social media activity:
