TV Ratings: Daytona 500 final, NHRA Phoenix

The telecast of the 59th Daytona 500 scored a final rating of 6.6 on FOX with a 15 share, (meaning 15% of all TVs in use were tuned in), with an average viewership 11.9 million. The rating was equal to last year, although the average broadcast audience in metered markets was up 5%, according to the network, and down from a 7.7/13.4m in 2015.

Viewership peaked (14.031 million viewers) for the finish between 6:15-6:30 p.m. ET as Kurt Busch surged to his first victory in NASCAR's biggest race.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona scored a 1.40 rating and averaged 2.3m viewers on FOX Sports 1 Saturday afternoon. That was up from last year's 1.38/2.1m.

Ratings for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series telecast from Daytona on FS1 Friday night were not available, but the average audience was given as 1.3m, identical to last year.

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing finals from Phoenix scored a 0.36 rating on FS1 Sunday evening, averaging 546,000 viewers. That was down from an 0.42/645,000 on the same network last year.
