Nissan confirms global racing plans

Nissan has confirmed its global factory racing activities with drivers and cars in Japan's Super GT Championship, Australia's Supercars Championship, throughout Europe and internationally in LMP1 and LMP3 racing, and in America with IMSA's WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Its participation in the Pirelli World Challenge series with the AER Now team is the only significant change for the brand. Its factory supported effort will convert to a customer program in 2017 where the AIM Autosport-led team will sign its own drivers and seek independent sponsorship.

The team's new 2017-spec GT-R GT3 is not expected to be ready for the season opener in March at St. Petersburg; Long Beach in April is said to be the location of its PWC GT debut.
